There is a high level of expertise on sustainable development throughout the organisation, which forms a key part of our operations. We also cooperate closely with our partners and the authorities. Our activities are governed by strict licensing procedures, and compliance with legislation is a minimum requirement. We always strive to remain one step ahead, this means continually adapting our environmental measures in accordance with the latest technologies and expertise. Our responsible, holistic approach is directly linked to the trust which others place in us, which is fully aligned with our own values.
ENVIRONMENTAL
The environment is important for WDS, therefore WDS measures her performance regarding the environment, divided in Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC)-, Carbon Dioxide (CO2)-, Nitrogen Oxide (NOx) emissions, soil- and water pollution. Even though it is not mandatory according to the European Trading Law, WDS measures all the emissions of the terminals and sets ambitious goals to do better than the minimal requirements.
SOCIAL
People are our most valuable asset. For WDS this means, having a sustainable work environment that promotes safety, wellbeing and being connected to the community. The key subjects for WDS regarding Social are; Safety, People, Public Relationship and Community. All subjects have a connection with people and entails different ways to implement sustainability and act sustainable. WDS takes her responsibility to being proactive on these elements to ensure a sustainable relationship with all stakeholders.
GOVERNANCE
Governance can be defined as an establishment of policies and continuous monitoring of sustainability activities. This includes mechanisms required to balance the sustainable prosperity and viability of the organization.
